*VICTORIA FALLS
Mosi-oya-tunya (The smoke that thunders.)
A tour to the majestic Victoria Falls will be a mind blowing experience that will live in your memory for ever. |
 |
It is the longest curtain of falling water known to man as well as being one of the wonders of the world. But you will miss out on many fascinating facts and features if you go on this tour without a guide.
The above is a very small picture of the whole. Just to whet your appetite.
*CHOBE RIVER
Take this one hour drive to Chobe in Botswana to relax and enjoy a 3 hour cruise on the river. A delight for bird watchers but usually elephants and other game too. Plus if your timing is right you should find out if elephants really can swim?!
And if you spare us your full day we include lunch and a 3 hour game drive in the afternoon.
This really is a tour that has proved to be a favourite of many of our clients.

*VILLAGE TOUR

This is a 'don’t miss' tour.

*CHOBE GAME DRIVE
Morning or afternoon.
Out of the magazine pictures and national geographical movies and right before your eyes. See it all around you as the elephants pass you for the best seat at the waterhole, or the lions just lazing about, the impalas jumping, (not anywhere near the lions!) and the buffalos taking a stroll. A glimpse of this natural community is worth your life’s savings and you will never regret it.

*CROCODILE FARM IN NATURE SANCTUARY
Crocodiles! What is our first thought? Love or hate? Well certainly not love! But isn't it true that they instill in us both fear and fascination in equal measure?
Either way on a visit to the farm you will see lots of them. And of all different ages ranging from 'babies' to - can you believe - a 74 year old measuring 5 metres long and weighing an enormous 500 kilograms.
But at least they are not always hungry - they can go for weeks without food. The question is, however, would they still attack one of us even if not hungry? Wouldn't suggest you try to find the answer by personal experience!
This tour is not only enjoyable it is also both interesting and educational.

*ZAMBEZI RIVER CRUISE
Be it Sunrise, sipping your coffee, or be it Sunset sipping your Gin and Tonic, you are guaranteed an exotic and relaxing time. Experience the romantic side of mother nature on the mighty Zambezi river. And you should be certain to see some hippos having a swim or elephants having a snack by the riverside.
As just mentioned these cruises are also available at sunrise with breakfast and over lunch.

Itineraries
OKAVANGO & SAVUTI SAFARIS
Okavango and Savuti have two distinctly different vegetations.
The Okavango Delta as might be imagined is full of lush green vegetation with plenty of water. You should see plenty of game including the usual elephant, buffalo, wildebeest, waterbuck, giraffe and impala etc. Predators are prevalent including leopard, lion, wild dog and hyenas.
Birding is also excellent especially in the spring and summer months.
The Savuti vegetation is quite different. It is extremely arid. Rain is rare and water is precious. You should find elephant and lions aplenty with sightings of leopard, cheetah, hyena and the endangered wild dog is not uncommon. For bird watchers the Savuti area is a paradise.
More than 250 bird species around the marsh areas.
As for accommodation, the luxury of the en suite tents is difficult to imagine. It really has to be experienced to be believed.
A home away from home. No! You don’t have to pitch them and once inside, who said you were in a tent?!
For those wishing to experience real bundu life, the basic tents (still put up for you!!) are the answer and good fun.

*FLIGHT OVER THE FALLS ( please save the photos )
Termed, ‘flight of angels’, this is truly an experience of a lifetime. You capture the mighty Victoria Falls and the Zambezi river as well as the game park that is adjacent to the Zambezi. (You might even see some game.)
You see all this magnificent beauty as angels might see it. A dream come true. Not to be missed.
15 minutes, 30 minutes or 1 hour - the choice is yours.

*BOMA DINNER - photos – done
From the moment you arrive you sense the atmosphere of pure African tradition.
You are offered both an African wrap-around (shawl) and a face painting (African tradition…!) It is up to you to take or leave!
Having been shown to your table you are offered a traditional brew with local nibbles. And then you choose a starter from a brief menu.
And from then on it’s a help yourself free for all. As much or as little as you fancy. But what a choice!
Salads; soup; lamb from the whole lamb being barbecued ‘in front’ of you; a selection of meats ranging from pork sausages through to beef sausages; chicken; steak and game such as warthog (my favourite!) Kudu, buffalo, etc. Oh, and we nearly forgot, the famous Zambezi bream.
And if you don’t want to miss your starch there is the local staple diet of sadza. And rice too.
The non-eating session begins with lots of different African traditional dancing. Very energetic (for the dancers!) and the music really gets you in the mood.
Then every table is given a small drum. To try or not. Up to you. But for those with a little sense of rhythm you are shown by ‘the leader of the band’ how to make your drum produce ‘music’! (It was questionable whether my attempt could actually be classified as music!) But it is all good fun.
And the fun is rounded off with everyone being invited on the floor to try their hand at dancing. (Not me!) But enjoyed by many and just as enjoyable for those who simply watch.
All in all a truly ‘happy’ evening and taking everything into account, well worth the money. Long live these African traditions.
*ELEPHANT BACK SAFARI
Imagine this humongous mammal saying to you, “Come, let’s take a walk, get on my back, we will be back in about 45 minutes”. I can not imagine a safari more romantic. Such that many have adopted the elephant rides for the bride and groom entrance. And you don’t have to learn how to drive them! But what a memorable and enjoyable experience!

*LIVINGSTONE ISLAND AND DEVIL’S POOL EXCURSIONS
Victoria Falls is one of the world’s natural wonders and among the most spectacular sights in all Africa. The best place to witness this immense mass of water is tiny Livingstone Island, the place where Dr David Livingstone first glimpsed Mosi-oa-Tunya (The Smoke That Thunders).
We offer five trips a day to Livingstone Island. A twin-engine boat that carries up to 12 people will take you through the fast-moving channels of the Zambezi, a thrilling journey.
Once on the island, you will be given a guided tour, learning about its history from ancient times, when it served as a sacrificial site, to the present day and its World Heritage Status.
The Devil's Pool at the falls' brink -- a small lagoon enclosed by rocks where, in the dry season, some people swim and even climb up on the very lip
Swimming usually opens during the last week of August and stops around the months of December or January depending on the amount of rain

• Multi-day rafting trips
Time to raft the big river! We begin our one day, and multiple day journeys on the Zambezi.
We hike down a steep trail to the put in point on the banks of the Batoka Gorge. Using a combination of paddle boats and oar boats, our day is spent navigating some of the world's biggest and most dynamic rapids as we come face to face with "Nyami-Nyami"-the Zambezi river god in the form of heart pounding and enormous Class IV and V rapids (about one per mile)!
We complete day one at rapid number 23, the air is hot and dry, the river water a mild 62 degrees, and the breeze that sweeps up the canyon is fragrant with the wildness of Africa.
The next couple of days are filled with paddling in calm waters, portaging Lower Mwemba and Chimamba Falls followed by camping on white sand beaches surrounded by the sounds of the African bush.
Day three, we rev our paddling engines in preparation for Ghost Rider Rapid, without any doubt, one of the world's biggest raftable rapids! We paddle into an enormous series of haystack waves that climax into a pulsating, V-shaped rooster tail of three massive waves followed by collapsing chop and churning eddies.
Paddle hard or Highside!
The following day, we drift into and through Crocodile Alley where our safety kayakers must come aboard our rafts (or risk a bite or two from any meandering croc!). As we float through the calm waters, we truly have the feel of being in a remote river canyon.
Stopping at a small Zambian fishing village where the traditional thatched huts offer shelter from the blazing hot sun, we trade with local villagers for carvings and fire smoked fish. Our kayaking and rafting trip ends the following day as we emerge into the hippo pool waters near the Matetsi, food and drinks are served. |
